Grupo Folklorico Nayarita de San Jose is a Mexican folkloric dance company. The company was formed to preserve the Mexican traditions and culture through it's dance and music. The group was founded on April 15, 1988 in san Jose CA.
The company director and teacher is Ramon S. Olvera. Mr Olvera is of Mexican decent and native from the state of Nayarit Mexico. He graduated from the Instituto de Bellas Artes Nayarit - Mexico in the fine Arts Department and then became a profesor in dance. He is also Agricultural Engineer from the Center of Study University (CEU) of Monterrey Nuevo Leon- Mexico. Olvera also has a degree in Bachelor of Sciences in Computer Sciences in Information Systems from National Hispanic University of San Jose California.
The dance company performs year round at many private and public functions in the Bay Area and throughout California and also in Mexico, "La Feria de la Mexicanidad" in 1992, wedings, company functions, cultural events, county fairs, hotels, restaurant, fundraisers and for any other special occasions.
Our repertory of dances range from the popular states of Jalisco and Veracruz to the newest regions such as Baja California Sur, Durango, Huapangos y Norte of Tamaulipas, Yucatan, as well as traditional mestizo and Costa dances like Nayarit. |
